The finalists for the 2012 New Zealand Hi Tech awards were announced last night at three simultaneous events in Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch.
The awards are a showcase for local technology, as judged by an eight-strong and highly respected international panel, including Facebook investor Peter Thiel, Google director of engineering Craig Nevill-Manning, and senior vice president for Cisco, Howard Charney.
With our mustachioed, timezone-hopping founder, Vaughan Rowsell, up in San Francisco this week, JC – Vend sales manager for Asia Pacific – and I attended the event on his behalf.
Held on the 22nd floor of the PWC building, in downtown Auckland, with its spectacular views of the Waitemata harbour, we both did our professional best to represent Vend by accepting every passing canapé and offer of beer and wine.
It a pleasure mixing with some of the most exciting and innovative companies in New Zealand (or anywhere), as well as catching up with a few familiar friends of Vend.
It was also nice to be named a finalist in the Innovative Software Product category. We look forward to the gala awards ceremony in May.
Go team Vend 🙂
