What’s New in Vend – October


This has been an absolutely massive month for new features and improvements to Vend. Below are some of the things that we’ve been working on in October, and a sneak peak at something coming in the near future that’ll help our retailers do better business.


Feature – Vend Register iPad App:  Everything about our new native iPad app is designed to help retailers make sales and earn money quickly – from the streamlined checkout process, to smarter Quick Keys and search which makes finding products and customers a breeze.

This is the first version of the new app, and we’re already working on more features to help retailers do awesome business. An important note for retailers currently using Loyalty, on-account sales, layby/layaway, or the PayPal payment integration – these features will be added very shortly in upcoming updates to Register. Don’t worry, you can continue to download and use the older Vend POS app in the meantime. Try Vend Register for your self now.


Feature – Returns:  Have a customer who’s unhappy about a product, or just needs to switch out one size for another? No worries. Our new Returns feature let’s you quickly take product returns, and track items and inventory changes easily. Find out how to take returns in your store.


Improvement – QuickBooks Product Type and Cost of Goods Sold (US only):  We’ve improved our Vend + QuickBooks Online integration to now also push product types and cost of goods sold to QuickBooks Online. This extra level of detail will make you (and your accountant) happier, by providing a clearer picture of your business, which will ultimately help your store grow. Find out more.


Improvement – Register sales history: Keep your sales history when you delete a register. This is perfect for retailers who want to open an extra temporary register (maybe for a popup shop or market or event) and want to keep their sales data afterwards.


Improvement – CSV Imports: Better CSV imports and support for non-Windows CSV files, also handling for CSVs with missing SKUs and handles.


Coming soon – Improved Reporting: Reporting is absolutely critical for retailers to make smarter decisions about their stores and help them find opportunities to grow. Right now we’re working on an improved Reporting suite which includes real-time data across your outlets, reports on your customers and profit/product trends, and the ability to create customized reports so you can have more of the information that’s important to you.

We’ve already got some amazing retailers on board helping us test the new Reporting suite, and the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. We expect the improved Reporting be more widely available to our retailers in time for you to get insights on your Christmas sales.


News – 24/7 Support: Vend’s award winning support is going global! We’ve just opened a brand new office in Berlin, which means we now have even better support coverage around the world and offer 24/7 support for our Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large customers! Bugfix – Loyalty is no longer earned on sales made with Loyalty dollars.

Bugfix – Loyalty no longer earned on parked sales.

Bugfix – Fixed an issue where errors occurred when posting on-account Loyalty sales to Xero.

Bugfix – Fixed an issue where stocktakes returned incorrect quantities.

Bugfix – Stock order barcodes now only print the number of products received instead of the number of products ordered.

Bugfix – Fixed an issue where incorrect stock numbers were being returned for voided items via the API.
