Vend is the retail management software that’s taken retail to the cloud.

Alex joined Vend in March 2015 as VP of Strategy, was promoted to Chief Financial Officer, and has been Chief Executive since February 2016.

He began his career at McKinsey & Company, advising major global corporations on strategy, marketing and operations. Since then he also held executive roles at iconic New Zealand growth companies including Trade Me, Les Mills International, and Orion Health.

Alex attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar - only the second of Pacific Island descent - and also holds a 1st class honours degree from the University of Auckland. Outside of work Alex spends his time chasing his three children with wife Clare, cheering for the Hurricanes rugby team and enjoying Auckland’s great outdoors.

Vaughan, a veteran of several online startups, founded Vend in 2010 based on the idea of using technology to liberate retailers, save them 1,000s of hours, and empower them to deliver rich new engaging experiences in their stores.

Along with multiple awards for Vend, Vaughan was named EY's Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014. In 2015 he founded a charitable initiative OMGTech! with the aim to help kids into careers with future technology. He’s also Vice-chair of the NZ Hi-Tech Trust and is involved in the celebration of the New Zealand hi-tech industry through awards and education.

Every year Vaughan does an impossible challenge, something to take him out of his comfort zone, like running 1,000km, learning to sing to get a paid gig in front of 100 people or cycling around the world in 80 days. This has become a core value at Vend, to do the impossible.

Ana joined Vend in 2017, and is responsible for developing and translating strategy into actionable plans in a variety of settings.

With over 12 years’ experience across strategy and operations, Ana began her career in Group Strategy at Spark, before moving to London and leading market strategy for Microsoft’s Consumer & Online division in the UK. In her last role at McKinsey & Company, Ana led multi-million dollar transformations for a variety of international clients.

Before moving back to New Zealand, Ana spent a year cycling across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, which combined her love of travel with her love of good food!

Ben is our Chief Vend-gineer, and makes sure our developers are producing the amazing code that makes Vend such an awesome product.

His 20+ year career in commercial software development covers a broad range of industries and technologies. Ben has developed software with, and for, many New Zealand and global household names including Datacom, Orion Health, PlaceMakers, ING, GoPro, Disney, Al Jazeera, Nokia and Microsoft.

He'd be embarrassed to be called a minor celebrity, but Ben is often called on by local media to offer his opinion and advice on technology and software. He even did a regular stint on breakfast television for several years as a technology & gadgets commentator.

Graeme joined Vend in 2017 and is responsible for the financial operations of the group.

Graeme has over 15 years experience leading finance teams in the telco and technology industries in both NZ and the UK. Prior to joining Vend, Graeme was Head of Finance Operations at Vodafone NZ for 4 years. He’s also held finance management, commercial and business partnering roles at TelstraClear, and in the UK with KCOM.

He lives with his family in Auckland, where his spare time is spent exhausting himself and/or his family in a variety of outdoor athletic pursuits.

Shirvani leads both our IT team and our People and Culture team, making sure everything’s running smoothly and we continue to attract, engage and retain amazing people! Shirvani and her team are committed to developing leadership capability, driving engagement and ensuring Vend continues to be an amazing place to work.

Joining Vend in 2018, Shirvani has a wealth of HR experience gained from previous roles at Logical CSI (IBM), Bank of New Zealand, and more recently as Chief People Officer at Yellow. Shirvani has a significant background in change management and culture transformation.

Shirvani and her husband are proud parents of two incredible girls and dedicate all their spare time to them. A die hard All Blacks supporter, on game day Shirvani can be heard shouting support at the television!

Butch is our Country Manager based in Toronto, taking care of sales, customer success, marketing and channel teams across Canada and the U.S.

Butch is a CPA who’s held Senior Executive positions with major Media, Telecom and Cable companies in Canada. In addition to more corporate roles he has been CEO of 3 VC funded companies in North America - Buybuddy, Truition (acquired by CDC Software) and Microsoft backed PlanetEye (now part of 9Flats).

In his younger years Butch was a successful Junior A hockey player and touring musician, only getting accounting designation in case the "music" thing didn't work out.

Dave heads up our sales, customer success, marketing and channel teams across the APAC region. Based Melbourne, he loves working with a team that lives and breathes retail as much as he does.

Dave has 15+ years’ experience launching and rapidly scaling international teams and operations at global internet companies including Google and Yelp, and has an extensive international background having lived and worked in the US, UK, Ireland, Poland, India and Australia.

Dave also has a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a MBA from Harvard Business School. In his spare time he loves sharing his knowledge as a mentor to startups as part of the Melbourne Accelerator Program within the University of Melbourne.

Higor heads up Vend across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His main goal is to make Vend the market leader in the region and create a growth oriented, sustainable business.

After starting his career with big corporations like Unilever and American Express, Higor became fascinated with the tech industry and joined Groupon, where he had a number of roles in sales, strategy and operations. He’s also led commercial areas globally for food delivery company Foodora and was COO of YOYO, a SaaS company focused on the restaurant industry.

A true man of the world, Higor has a masters degree from Harvard and has lived in five different countries. He has a passion for scuba diving and also racing both cars and go-karts.

As Chief Marketing Officer, Malcolm sees his role as helping us achieve the vision we all have for Vend - being a remarkable company and a global leader while doing the right thing for our retailers and our people.

Prior to joining Vend, Malcolm spent 10 years in the telecommunications industry. As the Chief Marketing Officer of 2degrees for six years, he oversaw the transformation of the company from a small startup to one of New Zealand’s most popular and well known brands.

Outside of Vend Malcolm is chair of online startup Electric Kiwi, New Zealand’s fastest growing energy retailer in 2017. While not transforming businesses Malcolm enjoys challenging himself by signing up to marathons and trying to expand his extensive record collection.
